COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team suffered a 4-3 setback against the Northwood Timberwolves on Friday night at Panther Stadium.
With the loss, the Panthers fall to 7-6-0 overall and 5-5-0 in the GLIAC. With the win, Northwood improves to 9-2-1 overall and 7-2-1 in the GLIAC.
ODU started strong in the first half with a 2-0 lead at halftime. Ohio Dominican converted twice on their three shots in the first half. ODU got on the board with a goal by Fragoulis, his second of the season, off a cross from Schwall. ODU also converted in the 29th minute to increase their lead with a penalty shot goal by Szabo. The goal was Szabo's sixth of the season and he holds the team lead in that category.
In the second half, Schwall scored his fifth of the season off of a pass from Szabo, giving the Panthers a 3-1 lead. However, Northwood controlled possession after the Panther goal, and scored three unanswered goals in less than a five minute span to claim the 4-3 victory.
Northwood held a 17-7 advantage over the Panthers in shots, as well as an 8-6 edge in shots on goal. Schwall led the Panthers with three shot attempts, with all three being on net.
The Panthers look to rebound at Panther Stadium on Sunday, October 19, where they will host GLIAC opponent, Saginaw Valley State, with a 2 p.m. start time.
