Columbus, Ohio -- The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team won its third straight GLIAC match, as they defeated Malone, 3-1.
The Panthers (6-2-0, 3-1-0 GLIAC) have now won three straight conference matches, all coming at home, to improve their conference home record to 3-1. With the loss, Malone drops to 1-5-1 overall (0-4-1 GLIAC).
Senior Frazer Fernandes (Gahanna, OH) and sophomore Tanner Ebright (Pickerington, OH) each recorded their first goal of the season. Junior Brent Wahle (Pataskala, OH) logged his fourth goal of the season.
Like many of the other matches this season, ODU scored quickly, as senior Frazer Fernandes (Gahanna, OH) scored in the fourth minute off a cross from senior Jakob Szabo (Worthington, OH).
The Panthers added a second goal in the 17th minute by junior Brent Wahle (Pataskala, OH) as he scored off a rebounded shot.
The Black and Gold could not keep a clean sheet as Malone was able to score in the 31st minute. The Panthers took a 2-1 lead into the break.
In the second 45 minutes, ODU was able to add another goal. Sophomore Tanner Ebright (Pickerington, OH) scored in the 67th minute. ODU was able to hang on to the lead, and defeat Malone by a final score of 3-1.
Wahle led the team with four shots, two coming on net and now has nine points on the season. Szabo leads the team with 10 points after the match. Sophomore Michael Fragoulis (Chios, Greece) charted three shots.
Overall, ODU held a 19-4 advantage in shots, and a 9-1 shots on goal advantage.
The Panthers will be back in action on the road Friday at 3:30 p.m. when they travel to No. 2 Saginaw Valley State.
