COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team was able to bounce back from a two game losing streak, defeating Findlay in a GLIAC matchup, 2-1.
With the win the Panthers now improve to 4-2-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the GLIAC. Findlay falls to 1-4 overall and 0-3-0 in the conference.
The opening ten minutes were entertaining as all three goals in the match were scored within the time frame. Atkinson scored in the second minute off a cross from junior Brent Wahle (Pataskala, OH) and beat the keeper in the bottom right corner. At the 3:06 mark, Fragoulis added the second goal as sophomore Tanner Ebright (Pickerington, OH) passed it on a two-on-one breakaway.
The Oilers responded quickly, scoring a goal of their own in the 6th minute. Ryan Poyle tallied the Oiler goal off a cross from the left corner area.
The Panthers would take their 2-1 lead into halftime, and hold on to win by the same score.
Findlay held the shot advantage for the match, 14-12. One card was given in the match with a member of the Findlay squad receiving a yellow card in the 87th minute.
The Panthers will be back in action at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26. ODU will have a double header as the women's team will host Northwood at 4:30 p.m., while the men will welcome Walsh to Panther Stadium.
