Men's Soccer Scores Early, Beat Findlay 2-1

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team was able to bounce back from a two game losing streak, defeating Findlay in a GLIAC matchup, 2-1.

With the win the Panthers now improve to 4-2-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the GLIAC. Findlay falls to 1-4 overall and 0-3-0 in the conference.

Two sophomores, Jacob Atkinson (Hilliard, OH) and Michael Fragoulis (Chios, Greece), each scored for the Panthers in the first five minutes of the match.

The opening ten minutes were entertaining as all three goals in the match were scored within the time frame. Atkinson scored in the second minute off a cross from junior Brent Wahle (Pataskala, OH) and beat the keeper in the bottom right corner. At the 3:06 mark, Fragoulis added the second goal as sophomore Tanner Ebright (Pickerington, OH) passed it on a two-on-one breakaway.

The Oilers responded quickly, scoring a goal of their own in the 6th minute. Ryan Poyle tallied the Oiler goal off a cross from the left corner area.

The Panthers would take their 2-1 lead into halftime, and hold on to win by the same score.

Findlay held the shot advantage for the match, 14-12. One card was given in the match with a member of the Findlay squad receiving a yellow card in the 87th minute.

Fragoulis led the way for the Panthers in shots with three. A trio of sophomores each recorded two shots in Ebright, Shane Facemyer (Sunbury, OH), and Andrew Schwall (Gahanna, OH).

The Panthers will be back in action at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26. ODU will have a double header as the women's team will host Northwood at 4:30 p.m., while the men will welcome Walsh to Panther Stadium.
