Men's Golf Begins 2019 With Fifth Place Finish

POWELL, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's golf team began the 2019 season hosting the ODU Kickoff Classic where the finished fifth with a 36-hole score of 622 Tuesday at Wedgewood Golf and Country Club.

Indianapolis won the event shooting 600 while Erik Edwards, also from UIndy, was the medalist shooting a 143 (-1).

The Panthers shot 314 in the first round before coming back to shoot 308 in round two.

Sophomore Robert Holden (Hertfordshire, England) paced the way for the Panthers finishing tied for 14th shooting 154 with a 78 in the first round followed by a 76 in the second.

Finishing tied for 18th was senior Blake Saffell (Somerset, Ohio) who posted a two round total of 155 shooting scores of 79 and 76. Saffell was also tie for fourth in the field in par-4 scoring at +4.

Junior Alex Heban (Toledo, Ohio) shot a first round score of 81 before coming back to shoot 76 in round two to finish tied for 23rd while sophomore Ben Herman (Germantown, Ohio) finished tied for 37th with scores of 76 and 87.

Rounding out the Panther five was sophomore Dalton Crowley (Nashport, Ohio) who finished tied for 44th with scores of 85 and 80 where he was second in the field in par-3 scoring at -1.

Shooting the low round of the day for the Panthers was freshman Jacob Brownley (West Chester, Ohio) who posted a -1 71 in round two after shooting 83 in the first round to finish tied for 14th.

The Panthers will be back in action this Saturday, September 7 at the Ohio Cup at Red Hawk Run Golf Club.
