COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's golf team kicks off their season hosting the ODU Kickoff Classic on Tuesday at Wedgewood Country Club in Pataskala.
The event will be 36 holes all played on Tuesday with the players having a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The Panthers will Indianapolis, Cedarville, Otterbein, Mount Vernon Nazarene, Ohio Wesleyan, Columbus State, Ohio Christian and Lake Erie for the daylong event.
The Panthers have seven players returning from a year ago with six having played in at least eight events.
Senior Blake Saffell (Somerset, Ohio) will lead the way as the only senior on the roaster this season as a year ago, he played in 11 events totaling 22.5 rounds where he had a scoring average of 77.1. The Panthers also bring back juniors Alex Heban (Toledo, Ohio) and Jonathon Dill (Sedalia, Ohio) with Heban playing 16 total rounds with an average of 77.4 and Dill playing nine rounds with an average of 84.6.
The group of sophomores return with a lot of experience from a year ago combining to play 36 events led by Robert Holden (Hertfordshire, England) who also led the team in scoring average a year ago at 75.7. Ben Herman (Germantown, Ohio) follows Holden at 76.0 while Dalton Crowley (Nashport, Ohio) was just behind at 76.7.
