INDIANAPOLIS – Hasan Varence (Queens, New York) of Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday morning.
Varence and the Panthers had a split week dropping a 70-64 overtime contest with Missouri-St. Louis and an 84-60 win over Maryville Saturday afternoon.
The senior forward averaged 28 points and 13.5 rebounds per game on 67.7% shooting (21-for-31) including 42% from behind the arc (5-for-12.)
In the overtime loss with UMSL, Varence posted a 30 point, 16 rebound double-double and a 26 point, 11 rebound double-double in the win over Marvyille the next day.
Varence and the Panthers open conference play this week traveling to Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday and Trevecca on Saturday.
