CEDARVILLE, Ohio – A strong first half gave Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team a 97-64 win over Campbellsville-Somerset Saturday evening on day two of the Don Callan Classic hosted by Cedarville University.
The Panthers were led by junior Michael Scott (Hebron, Kentucky) and sophomore Matt King (Mason, Ohio) who each had career highs with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Ryan Hoyng (Celina, Ohio) was the only other Panther in double figures as he had 10 on the night.
The first half saw the Panthers gain a quick 7-0 lead, advancing that lead to 18-8 at the 14:06 mark. ODU would then go on an 18-6 run to put their lead at 36-14 on a King three point basket.
The Panthers had 10 different players on the scoring sheet in the first half led by King who had nine as they took a 44-27 lead into the locker room.
The second half saw ODU continue to advance their lead as they got the lead to 24 at 63-39 on a King lay-up. The Panthers would gain their largest lead of the contest at 95-61 on an RJ Jones (Twinsburg, Ohio) basket with 1:19 remaining.
The Panthers had 13 players enter the scoring column on the night with nine of those players having at least five points.
ODU shot 52% from the floor while holding Somerset to just 39%.
The Panthers advance to 3-1 on the season with the perfect weekend while Somerset drops to 0-3 on the season. The Panther bench outscored the Tiger bench 59-28 in the contest.
ODU has a quick turnaround as they travel to Hillsdale, Michigan for the Thanksgiving Tournament on Tuesday and Wednesday where they matchup with Northern Michigan and Parkside.
