INDIANAPOLIS – Following Ohio Dominican's 48-35 win at East Stroudsburg, senior defensive end Brian Hunter (Mayfield, Ohio) was named the G-MAC Defensive Player of the Week, the first such honor in his career.
A First Team All-Great Midwest selection last year, Hunter made seven tackles with two sacks in Saturday's victory. He was part of a defensive effort that limited the Warriors to just 161 yards in the first half and pitched a shutout until late into the third quarter.
Hunter moved into third place on ODU's all-time sacks and tackles for loss list following Saturday, as he now has 14.0 career sacks and 29.5 career tackles for loss in 39 games played. Hunter also has 185 tackles in his career as well.
He's made a career-high 61 tackles this fall with 4.5 sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss. Hunter ranks 12th in the league in tackles, tied for sixth in sacks and tied for 10th in tackles for loss this season.
Hunter has made six or more tackles in six games this year, including a career-high 10 tackles against Malone on Oct. 13.
Ranked No. 8 in Super Region One entering last week, Ohio Dominican (7-2) will play host to Kentucky Wesleyan on Senior Day at 12 p.m. Saturday in Panther Stadium.
