Panthers Projected to Claim South Division Title

GLIAC MEDIA DAY  |  HEAD COACH BILL CONLEY INTERVIEW

BAY CITY, Mich. – Ohio Dominican's football team was picked to win the GLIAC South Division crown in voting conducted by the conference's head coaches.

The Panthers garnered six of seven first place votes and racked up 36 points in the 2014 Preseason Coaches' Poll. This is the highest preseason ranking for the program since joining the GLIAC in 2010 -- ODU claimed last year's conference title after being selected to finish second in the preseason.

Findlay picked up the other first place vote and garnered 30 points, while Ashland was picked third with 27 points. Rounding out the South Division is Lake Erie and Walsh (16 points), Tiffin (14 points) and Malone (8 points).

The Panthers will play the top three teams in the GLIAC North Division preseason poll. Grand Valley State (49 points, seven first place votes), Ferris State (42 points) and Saginaw Valley State (35 points, one first place vote) are the frontrunners in the division, according to the head coaches.

ODU returns 15 players who earned all-conference accolades last season, while 11 players have earned some type of preseason All-American mention this summer.

The Panthers kick off the 2014 season at noon on Saturday, Sept. 6 against Malone at Panther Stadium.

Advance tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13 and can be purchased on ODU's new ticketing website, www.ohiodominicantickets.com.
