COLUMBUS, Ohio – Junior kicker Brent Wahle (Pataskala, Ohio) was named to the 2014 Fred Mitchell Award Watch List as one of the top kickers at the FCS, Division II, Division III, NAIA and junior college ranks.
Wahle is one of 36 placekickers in the nation to appear on the watch list and one of just 12 in Division II. None of the 36 made as many field goals (21) as Wahle did last fall, and his 108 points scored ranks third amongst all of the nominees.
Last year, Wahle led Division II kickers in field goals made per game and set a GLIAC record by making 19 field goals in conference play. He earned three All-American honors after the season, was a two-time GLIAC Player of the Week, and also was a First Team All-GLIAC pick.
This summer, Wahle has garnered Preseason All-American recognition by USA College Football, Beyond Sports Network, Sporting News and Lindy's.
The Panthers kick off the 2014 season on Saturday, Sept. 6 against Malone at Panther Stadium.
