Shields, Wahle Pick Up Preseason All-American Honors from BSN

LEESBURG, Va. – Ohio Dominican football juniors Warren Shields (Richwood, Ohio) and Brent Wahle (Pataskala, Ohio) were named First Team Preseason All-Americans by the Beyond Sports Network (BSN).

It's the second All-American accolades in as many days for the duo, who were also named to the USA College Football Preseason All-American team on Monday.

Shields, who was named to BSN's All-American team following the 2013 season, made 99 tackles (11.0 for loss) last season, along with 5.0 sacks. He also broke up three passes and forced a fumble. The First Team All-GLIAC pick had a pair of 12 tackle games and had nine or more tackles in seven contests.

For his career, Shields has made 143 tackles (18.0 for loss).

Wahle, who earned three All-American honors at the end of last season, was a First Team All-GLIAC pick in both football and soccer as well. He made 21-of-25 field goals, including a school-record 51-yard kick, and had a pair of four field goal games. The two-time GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week has made 31-of-38 kicks in his career and his 21 field goal makes last year were a GLIAC record.

Ohio Dominican kicks off its season on Saturday, Sept. 6 at Panther Stadium against Malone.
