COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's football team closed the 2013 season ranked No. 12 in the final AFCA poll, released Monday.
The Panthers completed the season with a 10-1 record, won the GLIAC regular season title and competed in the second round of the NCAA playoffs, falling 34-27 to West Texas A&M.
ODU had 20 players earn All-GLIAC honors, while four different players – seniors Jake Brandt (Bexley, Ohio) and Justin Bell (Columbus, Ohio) and sophomores Warren Shields (Richwood, Ohio) and Brent Wahle (Pataskala, Ohio) – have been named to at least one All-American team. Bell has earned four All-American honors this postseason.
The Panthers jumped into the rankings for the first time as a Division II school on Sept. 30 after defeating Grand Valley State, which was ranked ninth in the nation at the time, 57-14. ODU entered the postseason ranked No. 7 in both the AFCA and D2Football.com poll.
