BAY CITY, Mich. – After setting a school-record with four field goals on Saturday, Ohio Dominican sophomore placekicker Brent Wahle (Pataskala, Ohio) was named the GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Wahle hit kicks from 45, 36, 29 and 38 yards in the Panthers' 33-20 victory at Walsh Saturday night. He broke the school-record of three field goal makes in a game, which he shared with former ODU kickers Chris Vortkamp (three times) and Mitch Croy (once).
Wahle, who also set a school-record for most points in a game by a kicker (15), is tied for first in the nation with his 11 field goals made this season. His 11 field goals are also tied for a school single-season record (Vortkamp, 2010).
On the season, Wahle is connecting on 85 percent of his field goal tries, leads conference kickers in points (54) and has three of the four longest field goals in the GLIAC this season (47 yards twice, 45).
The sophomore had a busy weekend as he also scored two goals for Ohio Dominican's men's soccer team on Sunday, including the game-winner in the second half.
Ohio Dominican, ranked No. 23 in the AFCA Top 25 poll and No. 18 in the D2Football.com Top 25 poll, hits the road to take on Ashland at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
