BAY CITY, Mich. – After Ohio Dominican's football team controlled all facets of the game in a 57-14 win over No. 9 Grand Valley on Saturday, defensive backs Cody Culbertson (Galloway, Ohio) and Justin Bell (Columbus, Ohio) earned GLIAC Player of the Week honors.
Culbertson was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week, registering nine tackles, including a career-best 3.5 tackles for loss. He brought down Grand Valley running back Michael Ratay in the end zone for a safety in the first half (pictured) and recorded his first career sack as well.
The sophomore has made big plays all season, notching two interceptions and returning one for a touchdown, and has 19 tackles (15 solo) on the year.
Bell, a preseason All-American pick, was named the GLIAC's Special Teams Player of the Week after returning a punt 91 yards for a touchdown, the first punt return for a score in school history. He also had a 42-yard return on a free kick and helped anchor the defense by making seven tackles.
It's the second time Bell has picked up GLIAC Player of the Week honors in his career, also garnering the accolade after a win over Hillsdale in 2011.
Ohio Dominican hits the road for a 6 p.m. matchup at Walsh on Saturday.
