COLUMBUS, Ohio – Senior catcher Colin Kaucher (Toledo, Ohio) was named First Team All-Midwest Region by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) while being selected Second Team All-Midwest Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
Kaucher also garnered all-region honors by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association earlier this month, landing on the second team.
Kaucher graduates as one of the most decorated players in ODU's Division II era with a lifetime .378 average, .457 OBP and .552 slugging percentage. In 195 games, he had 19 homers, 184 RBIs, 49 doubles, nine triples and stole 20 bases while walking 90 times against just 96 strikeouts. Kaucher was a preseason All-American this year after earning a pair of All-American honors last spring, as well as Academic All-American accolades.
This spring, he batted .404 with seven homers, 52 RBIs, 16 doubles and 61 runs while also stealing 11 bases. He tallied a .484 OBP and slugged .615. Kaucher finished with 25 multi-hit performances and 14 multi-RBI games, and he also threw out 16 would-be base stealers this season (47.1 percent).
Ohio Dominican finished the season with a 32-23 record and a 22-10 mark in G-MAC play, recording the most conference wins this spring. ODU has won at least 32 games in consecutive years after finishing as the Midwest Region runner-up in 2018.
