COLUMBUS, Ohio – Senior right hander Mitchell Bault (Maineville, Ohio) was named the G-MAC Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season, but Ohio Dominican's baseball team would fall 13-2 to Walsh in the series finale on Monday in Panther Valley.
Bault went 2-0 for the Panthers on the mound last week, tossing complete game gems against both Cedarville on Tuesday and Walsh on Sunday. Against the Yellow Jackets, he struck out nine without walking a batter and yielded just five hits. Against the Cavaliers, he tossed a four-hit effort.
He finished with a 1.29 ERA in his 14.0 innings of work, striking out 13 and walking just one while limiting the opposition to a .188 batting average (nine hits.)
In Monday's game, Walsh jumped to an 8-0 lead through two and a half frames, then put it away with a five-run fourth inning.
The Panthers finished with 10 hits, led by senior Colin Kaucher (Toledo, Ohio) as he went 3-for-5. Senior Genesis Hillard (Cincinnati, Ohio) and junior Joey Machuga (Canfield, Ohio) each had two hits, and senior Chris Sackett (Loveland, Ohio) had a hit and walked twice.
Ohio Dominican (25-21, 18-10 G-MAC) closes out the regular season with a four game series against Hillsdale this weekend, beginning with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday.
