INDIANAPOLIS – After helping Ohio Dominican's baseball team win its first two games to start the 2019 season, senior pitcher Mitchell Bault (Maineville, Ohio) and senior outfielder Genesis Hillard (Cincinnati, Ohio) were named the G-MAC Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively.
Bault tossed a gem in Thursday's 9-0 win over Urbana, matching a career-high with 11 punchouts and allowing just two singles without walking a batter. He threw 59 of his 89 pitches for strikes and only one runner reached second base in his 5.1 innings of work.
This is the third career G-MAC Pitcher of the Week honor for the right-hander, who struck out the side in both the first and third innings. His 11 strikeouts are the most by any G-MAC pitcher in 2019.
Hillard batted leadoff and started in left in both games against Urbana and set the table for the Panthers' offensive attack. He went 2-for-3 in both ends of the doubleheader and also drew three walks. He doubled twice, had a triple and a steal, and scored five runs while knocking in four.
This is the first time that Hillard has earned a conference player of the week honor.
Ohio Dominican returns to the diamond for three games in Evansville this weekend, starting at 2:30 p.m. Friday against Southern Indiana.
