ASHLAND, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican Panthers (1-2, 0-1 G-MAC) football team battled another long weather delay that disrupted Saturday's (Sept. 19) G-MAC opener against the Ashland Eagles (1-2, 1-0 G-MAC).
Ashland scored 22 unanswered points in a 24-3 win over the Panthers after a two-hour delay following the opening kickoff.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the opening kickoff, severe weather forced a two-hour delay as Ashland started on offense. When play resumed, the ODU defense forced a fumble on the first drive as Franklin-Davis came up with the loose ball out of the quarterback's hands.
- Two plays later, Ashland got a safety as the ball was fumbled and recovered in the end zone. The Eagles led 2-0 with 8:04 left in the opening quarter.
- The defenses combined for five straight punts before the Panthers got a score to gain the lead. Parker and Campbell connected for a 65-yard strike to put ODU in the red zone. A few plays later, Elliot made a 25-yard field goal, putting the Panthers ahead 3-2 with seven minutes left before halftime.
- On the next ODU drive, a 17-yard pick six for the Eagles put the home team in front 9-3 before halftime.
- Schroeder ended the next Ashland drive with his first interception of the game at the one-yard line, sending the game to halftime.
- Ashland added two field goals in the third quarter from 35 and 18 yards, respectively. They led 15-3 after the third period closed.
- Ashland pinned the Panthers deep to start their drive in the fourth quarter. Ian Furlong had a punt blocked in the end zone for a second safety of the game. The lead grew to 17-3 with 9:12 left.
- Two plays later, Schroeder got his second interception of the game but the Panthers could not capitalize as Ashland got their second INT on the next drive.
- The Eagles concluded the scoring with a four-yard rushing touchdown in the final four minutes to win 24-3.
