COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers (4-7, 3-6) football team wrapped up the 2024 season on Saturday (Nov. 16) afternoon at Panther Stadium against the Hillsdale Chargers (6-5, 6-3).
The Chargers spoiled the Senior Day festivities, defeating the Panthers 28-6.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Drew Gallehue completed 14 of 17 passes for 100 yards in the game with one passing touchdown.
- Shane Lindstrom tallied 41 yards on ten carries.
- Dimitri Mitsopoulos compiled 148 yards between receiving and returns. He had four catches for 57 yards, catching a 26-yard touchdown. He also made four kickoff returns for 91 yards.
- Mitsopoulos finished 2024 with the highest all-purpose average (151.9), second in kick return yards (693), tied for second in kick returns (27), third in all-purpose yards (1,671) ninth in single season catches (66)
- Michael Powers and Qwyn Williams tied for the team lead with eight tackles.
- Powers finishes his Panther career with 310 tackles, the second most in program history.
- Mehki Kilburn and Daishaun Hill each made seven tackles. Hill grabbed his fifth interception of the season.
- With his fifth pick of the season, Hill was tied with Joe Slabaugh and Michael Wright in a single season tied for second most.
- He has 12 interceptions for his career, tied for 2nd with Brad McCurdy.
- Hill is fourth in all-time tackles with 295 stops.
- Mo Conteh got two interceptions in the game, the 13th time that a Panther made two picks (16th of two or more INT's).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hillsdale jumped to a 7-0 lead on their first drive with a three-yard touchdown run by Kyle Riffel less than three minutes into the game.
- The Chargers added a second touchdown at the beginning of the second quarter, a one-yard rushing touchdown by Colin McKernan. Hillsdale led 14-0 with 11:50 left in the half.
- The next drive for the Chargers was terminated by a Hill pick halfway through the quarter.
- A nine play, 75-yard drive for the Panthers ended with a 26-yard touchdown from Gallehue to Mitsopoulos. The extra point was no good as ODU trailed 14-6 with 2:18 remaining in the half.
- Five plays later, Conteh ended another Hillsdale drive with an interception but the score remained 14-6 at halftime.
- A four-yard touchdown pass by McKernan to Shea Ruddy pushed the Hillsdale lead to 21-6 with 6:38 to go in the third quarter.
- Riffel's second touchdown of the day came in the first two minutes of the fourth quarter, a six-yard scamper for a 28-6 lead with 13:48 left.
- Conteh picked off McKernan for the second time in the game, this time in the end zone for a touchback.
- Hillsdale closed out the game for the 28-6 win.
