Battle of the Football Panthers Awaits in Owensboro

COLUMBUS, Ohio - For the second straight week, the Ohio Dominican Panthers football team is on the road in the Bluegrass State. In the second week of Great Midwest Athletic Conference play, Ohio Dominican travels to Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday (Sept. 23) at 7:00 PM. 

GAME DAY INFORMATION

OPENING KICKOFF

  • ODU fell 18-17 to Thomas More in the conference opener, dropping to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the G-MAC.
  • Drew Gallehue (Edon, Ohio) threw for 192 yards on 21 completions with two passing touchdowns. 
  • Jonzell Norrils (Toledo, Ohio) finished with 43 yards on seven carries while catching a 14-yard touchdown pass from Gallehue. 
  • Jordan Pantaleo (Dresden, Ohio) took the ball twice for 32 yards on the ground.
  • Travis Whittaker (Gahanna, Ohio) was the leading receiver with five catches for 77 yards, catching a 52-yard touchdown pass on ODU's first drive with 94 all-purpose yards on the day.
  • Ivan Ermlich (Pickerington, Ohio) kicked two extra points and made his first field goal of his career, a 39-yarder in the fourth quarter. 
  • Jayden Hill (Gahanna, Ohio) led all defenders with nine tackles. He forced a fumble and added one tackle for loss. 
  • Eddie Miller-Garrett (Newark, New Jersey) finished with eight tackles, including a forced fumble and two sacks. 
  • Caleb Diersing (Cincinnati, Ohio)Kalos Farrier (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Qwyn Williams (Gahanna, Ohio) all combined for 4.5 tackles for loss and two sacks. 
  • Overall, the Panthers outgained the Saints 277-223. 
  • ODU is 15-2 following a loss under head coach Kelly Cummings after winning in Week 2. 
  • When the Panthers are 1-2 in program history, they have followed with a win two of the three times. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW

  • - Ohio Dominican has lost the first two games by a combined three points (23-21 at NDC, 18-17 at TMU).
  • - ODU is a perfect 6-0 against the Panthers, dressed in purple in the series history. 
  • - The Panthers have nine sacks for the season, third most in the G-MAC. Seven different players have tallied at least half a sack.
  • 44 - Ohio Dominican has scored at least 45 points in four matchups, averaging 44 points in six games vs. KWC. 

KENTUCKY WESLEYAN AT A GLANCE

  • Kentucky Wesleyan is 2-1 this season so far and 1-0 in the Great Midwest.
  • Following a 35-3 loss to #7 West Florida in Week 1, the Panthers have won the last two games. KWC defeated William Jewell 41-34 and Walsh in the G-MAC opener 31-28. 
  • The Panthers have scored the game-winning scores within the final minute this season against William Jewell (33 seconds) and Walsh (16 seconds). 
  • For the season, Kentucky Wesleyan averages 25.0 points scored, 120.3 rushing yards, and 291.0 passing yards per game on offense. The Panthers are allowing 32.3 points, 128.0 rushing yards and 254.7 passing yards per contest. Overall on offense, the Panthers sit first in passing, fourth in scoring and sixth in rushing. For the defense, KWC is seventh in rushing and eighth for scoring and passing. 
  • KWC is second in the conference with total offense, averaging 411.3 yards per contest through the first three weeks of the season. 
  • This is the earliest in the season that the Panthers have battled on the gridiron (except for the COVID-19 Spring season). 
  • Tyrone Young is in his second season as head coach after spending three seasons as an assistant coach. After an 2-9 season in his first year, the Panthers have already matched the 2022 win total. 
  • In the 2023 G-MAC Preseason Poll, Kentucky Wesleyan was selected for an seventh place finish once again, earning 27 votes after the Panthers were 2-9 overall and 1-7 in G-MAC.
  • Christian Arrambide has been the key player on offense for the Panthers as the starting quarterback. Arrambide has completed 45-of-85 passes for 873 yards (1st in the G-MAC) and five touchdowns. He has two interceptions on the season. He also has 40 carries for 110 yards on the ground with three rushing touchdowns. 
    • Arrambide is the two-time, reigning Great Midwest Offensive Athlete of the Week for the conference, leading the G-MAC with 327.7 yards of total offense. 
  • Camran McNeil has a team-high 119 yards rushing on 20 touches with one rushing touchdown. 
  • Camden Williams caught 13 catches for 378 yards with three touchdowns. He leads the G-MAC with receiving yards and is tied for the lead with three touchdowns. 
  • Blake Vivrette is two-of-three on field goal attempts, with a long of 39 yards. Vivrette has made nine-of-ten on extra point attempts while averaging 42.1 yards per punt. He has a long punt of 54 yards.
  • Zereoue Johnson leads the Panthers with 25 tackles (6th in the G-MAC) with Bishop Byrd sitting second with 22 tackles.
  • Kajuan Hardesty has 4.5 tackles for loss with 3.5 sacks (3rd in the G-MAC). 
  • Jaden Santos-Lopez is tied for fourth in the conference with three sacks with a total of 3.5 tackles for loss. 
SERIES HISTORY
  • This will be the seventh meeting as Ohio Dominican is 6-0 in the series. 
  • ODU has outscored KWC 269-67 and has held KWC to under ten points in five of the six matchups. 
  • Last season, the ODU Panthers won 49-7 in Columbus. 
  • Ohio Dominican holds a 2-0 lead in games within Owensboro.
