CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers cross country team competed underneath the setting sun in southwest Ohio at the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Challenge, held at Elvin R. King Cross Country Course on Friday (Sept. 15) night.
The men's team notched a 19th place overall finish (out of 31 teams) and were seventh of 11 teams in the D2/NAIA rankings. On the women's side, they were in 22nd place of 30 teams and ended eighth in the D2/NAIA race.
MEN
Eayuel Gebrtsadik (Columbus, Ohio) was the top runner for the Panthers in the 8K as he set a personal record and the 5th fastest time in program history, a 26:19.3.
Ethan Sinning (Tipp City, Ohio) bettered his PR from last week, running the seventh fastest 8K time (26:29.5).
Merrick Shorter (Dublin, Ohio) hit a PR as he was third on the ODU team at 26:57.3.
Jacob Krous (Galena, Ohio) followed with a 27:05.7. Freshmen
Aidan Shannon (Columbus, Ohio) and
Rogan Hanson (Craig, Alaska) were fifth and sixth on the team, respectively. Shannon clocked in at 27:18.1 while Hanson was 28:52.3 on the flat, open course.
Edward Devaney (Lexington, Ohio) wrapped up the Panthers seven on the course with a final time of 29:28.7.
WOMEN
Kylee Henry (Circleville, Ohio) smashed her 6K personal best with a 24:08.1 for the top ODU finisher in 88th place.
Kaelin Pfeifer (Washington Court House, Ohio) was second in her first 6K as she crossed the line at 25:23.9.
Gabby Reed (Pickerington, Ohio) ended the race third on the team with a 25:41.6 time. Jaclyn Strawn (Lancaster, Ohio) stopped the clock at 25:56.1 as she was fourth for the third straight week.
Anna Blackstone (Lexington, Ohio) checked in as fifth on the Panthers in her 6K debut, a 26:23.3 time. Blackstone's classmates,
Morgan MacDonald (Oregon, Ohio) and
Alyza Camp (Waynesville, Ohio) ran times of 26:51.9 and 27:17.0 as the sun was setting on the Cedarville course.
Jeralyn Strawn (Lancaster, Ohio) finished eighth for the Panthers in with a 27:19.4 time.
The Panthers will have next Friday off before returning to action at Ohio Wesleyan on September 29th.
