Box Score TIFFIN, Ohio -- Quarterback Evan Ernst (Mason, Ohio) accounted for 358 yards of total offense but it was not enough as the Ohio Dominican football team suffered a 34-21 loss at Tiffin on a rain-soaked Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers saw their 10-game road winning streak come to an end, a run that was the third longest active streak in Division II. Ohio Dominican falls to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in Great Midwest play. Tiffin, with the win, stays tied atop the G-MAC standings at 4-1 and is 7-2 after its fourth consecutive victory.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- ODU and Tiffin combined for 55 points and 968 yards of offense on a day where precipitation fell throughout.
- Both teams threw for over 300 yards while also collecting over 100 yards on the ground.
- Ernst completed 21-of-39 passes for 321 yards and two touchdowns, the fifth 300-yard performance of his collegiate career.
- The quarterback also rushed for 37 yards on eight carries, adding one score on the ground.
- David Turner (Fort Wayne, Ind.) made six catches for 108 yards, his second 100-yard game of the fall. Turner also caught both passing touchdowns for the Panthers.
- James Morgan (Columbus, Ohio) caught three passes for 61 yards, while Austin Davis (Wooster, Ohio) registered 54 yards on five receptions.
- Defensively, Michael Powers (West Mansfield, Ohio) recorded his third career double-digit tackle performance, leading ODU with 10 stops. Powers also had 2.0 tackles for loss.
- Dauson Dales (Defiance, Ohio) and Jayden Hill (Gahanna, Ohio) each made seven tackles, with Hill also forcing a fumble and logging a pass breakup.
- Jaylin Garner (Shaker Heights, Ohio) and Aarin Smoot-Baker (Columbus, Ohio) made a tackle for loss as well, giving ODU four for the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- ODU drove into Tiffin territory on its first three possessions but found itself still down 3-0 with less than minutes remaining in the first half.
- After the defense earned its second straight stop, the Panther offense found the end zone for the first time, as Ernst connected with Turner for a 34-yard touchdown. ODU led 7-3 with 43 seconds remaining before the intermission.
- Tiffin though, used long kick returns to score touchdowns on both sides of the halftime break and led 17-7 less than one minute into the third quarter.
- ODU and Tiffin combined for touchdowns on the second half's first three possessions, but the Panthers still trailed by double digits, 24-14, with five minutes showing on the third quarter clock.
- After both sides were forced to punt, Ernst capped a six-play, 85-yard drive with a 28-yard scoring toss to Turner, cutting the Black & Gold deficit to 24-21 in the early stages of the fourth quarter.
- Tiffin responded with a touchdown and field goal on its next two drives to secure a 34-21 lead.
- The Panthers turned over possession on downs in their final two drives to fall by a final count of 34-21.

- ODU returns home for the final time of the 2021 season with a noon kickoff against Lake Erie on Saturday, Nov. 6.
