COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Dominican football team saw its five-game winning streak snapped Saturday afternoon at Panther Stadium, falling in overtime to Findlay, 21-14.
The Panthers drop to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in Great Midwest play. The Oilers improve to 5-2 overall and remain unbeaten in G-MAC play, 3-0. Saturday marked just the second loss for ODU in the all-time series history with UF, as the Panthers still lead 8-2.

The Panthers jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two field goals from Jed Quackenbush (Newark, Ohio).

Quackenbush capped an eight-play, 46-yard opening drive for ODU with a 46-yard field goal. Then on the Panthers' third possession he added a 21-yard field goal, giving ODU the 6-0 advantage at the 13:30 mark of the second quarter.

Findlay responded with a 27-yard touchdown pass in the closing minutes of the first half to take a 7-6 lead into the intermission.

ODU was held to 28 yards on seven plays over its final three offensive series of the first half.

Out of the break, the Oilers used the opening drive to go 77 yards over 13 plays, with a nine-yard touchdown pass giving UF a 14-6 lead with 7:57 to play in the third quarter.

ODU answered with its own scoring drive its next opportunity, covering 65 yards over 11 plays.

Evan Ernst (Mason, Ohio) rushed in from one yard out for the Panthers' only touchdown of the game. The senior quarterback then converted the two-point play following the touchdown with a pass to Frederick Pitts V (Huber Heights, Ohio), which tied the game at 14-all with 2:02 remaining in the third quarter.

Both defenses stepped up in the fourth quarter, leaving the game in a 14-14 stalemate after 60 minutes of play.

Findlay had a 43-yard field goal attempt hit the right post as time expired to send the game into overtime.

In the extra session, ODU's second overtime game of the fall and third in program history, Findlay scored on the first offensive possession. The Oilers converted the point-after and led 21-14.

Needing a touchdown, ODU was forced into a fourth and seven, which resulted in an incomplete pass, snapping the Panthers' seven-game win streak against Findlay.

Findlay held a 392-310 advantage in total offense.

The Panthers outgained UF on the ground, 145-103, with Pitts leading the way for ODU with 11 carries for 76 yards.

Ernst completed 18-of-31 passes for 165 yards and has now scored a rushing or passing touchdown in 31 consecutive appearances.

Austin Davis (Wooster, Ohio) recorded six catches for 56 yards to lead the receiving corps.

Leading the defense was Dauson Dales (Defiance, Ohio) with 15 tackles. Dales added 2.0 tackles for loss and has double-digit stops in four-of-seven games this season.

Overall, five Panther defenders posted eight or more tackles, including Daishaun Hill (Rocky River, Ohio), who set a new career high with 10.

Eddie Miller-Garrett (Newark, N.J.) was one of three ODU players with eight stops, highlighted by two sacks. Miller-Garrett also logged two quarterback hurries.
