COLUMBUS, Ohio – The cross country teams for ODU will compete in the Friendship Invitational on Saturday, September 15. The 28th annual event, hosted by Cedarville University, is scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM.
This event comes off a solid overall performance at the Battle of Columbus last week. The Panther men were led by senior Alejandro Serna (Duncanville, Tx.) who finished 10th with a time of 16:49.0 in the event, while fellow senior Bobby Bogantz (Sunbury, Ohio) finished 18th, clocking in at 17:32.3.
Sophomore Keaton McNair (Pickerington, Ohio) and freshman Ethan Sinning (Tipp City, Ohio) finished 21st and 23rd, respectively. The men's team was rounded out by junior Jaren Gilliam (Euclid, Ohio), who finished 29th, and sophomores Draven Bass (Circleville, Ohio) and Chayse Smith (Crooksville, Ohio) who finished 31st and 33rd, respectively.
On the women's side, the Panthers were led by junior Megan Tamasovich (Canal Winchester, Ohio), who finished 18th with a time of 21:57.2. That time was her career-best in a 5K by more than a minute. Another strong showing for the Panthers was had by senior Kristin Noecker (Circleville, Ohio), who finished 22nd with a time of 22:49.0.
In her first career event, freshman Addy Miller-Brown (Marysville, Ohio) finished 25th, while senior Micaela Carroll (Parma, Ohio) was just behind her rookie counterpart at 28th overall. Rounding out the women's lineup was freshman Ashley Wihl (Williamsport, Ohio) and sophomore Kylie Risinger-O'Malley (Grove City, Ohio) who finished 30th and 36th overall, respectively.
The Panthers will look continue to develop and build on their early season success at the Friendship Invitational. First-year coach Connor Callahan will then take his team Oxford, Ohio for the Redhawk Rumble on September 22, an event hosted by Miami University.
