WILMINGTON, Ohio — Ohio Dominican cross country senior Jalyn Devereaux (Carroll, Ohio) notched the fastest women's 5k time of 2017 to lead ODU at the Jenna Strong Fall Classic at Wilmington College on Friday.
Devereaux finished in 19:26.2 to finish in 17th place out of 300 competitors in the women's 5k. Devereaux ran an average mile of 6:15.0 en route to the second-fastest 5k time of her career.
Junior Kristen Noecker (Circleville, Ohio) finished with the second-fastest time of the race for the women's squad, recording a personal best run of 21:25.2 to score at 91.
Leading the men's squad was senior Chad Ellis (Brook Park, Ohio), who finished in 28:34.7. The run is the second-fastest 8k time of the season for Ellis and the fifth-fastest 8k time of the year for ODU. Senior Justin Carroll (Berea, Ohio) notched his second-fastest 8k finish of 2017, crossing the finish line in 28:48.5 to score 104 for the Panthers.
Overall, the men's team finished 24th with a score of 687, while the women's squad scored 512 to place 22nd.
Ohio Dominican hits the course once again on Saturday, October 21 for the Great Midwest Championships at Percy Warner Park/Vaughn's Gap Course in Nashville, Tennessee.
