COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Dominican's cross country team continues its season at the University of Notre Dame on Friday with the 38th annual National Catholic Invitational.
The Panthers will compete against 41 Division I and College Division schools at Burke Golf Course in the team's biggest meet of the season to date.
The action begins Friday at 3:30 p.m. with the men's and women's junior varsity races starting simultaneously. The championship races will start with the women's 5k race at 4:15 p.m., followed at 5 p.m. by the men's five-mile race.
On the women's side, Jalyn Devereaux (Carroll, Ohio) is having a solid start to her senior season, setting a personal best by 37 seconds and running the seventh-fastest 6k in ODU women's cross country history at the OWU Invitational (Sept. 9) with a time of 23:07.8 to place 16th out of 237 runners. Also running well for the Panthers are senior Capria Hall (Zanesville, Ohio) and junior Kristen Noecker (Circleville, Ohio), who ran the fastest 6k openers of their careers on Saturday.
The men's team looks to continue its strong start to the season after a ninth-place finish at the OWU Invitational (Sept. 9). Leading the Panthers were seniors Chad Ellis (Brook Park, Ohio), Justin Carroll (Berea, Ohio) and junior Wes Pipher (Attica, Ohio), who all ran their fastest season opening 8k races as Panthers.
After the National Catholic Invitational, Ohio Dominican will have a week off to prepare for competition at the All-Ohio Championships on Friday, Sept. 29 at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course at Cedarville University.
