Devereaux, Ellis Lead Cross Country At OWU Invitational

POWELL, Ohio — Ohio Dominican cross country seniors Jalyn Devereaux (Carroll, Ohio) and Chad Ellis (Brook Park, Ohio) led ODU XC at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational at Liberty Park in Powell on Saturday.

Devereaux notched a personal best in the women's 6k en route to the seventh-fastest 6k time in ODU women's cross country history, crossing the finish line in 23:07.8 to place 16th out of 237 runners, averaging a mile time of 6:12.0. Junior Capria Hall (Zanesville, Ohio) notched the second-fastest time for the women's squad, finishing in 26:09.0.

Ellis placed 36th out of 212 competitors to lead the men in the 8k, finishing in 26:58.6 with an average mile of 5:25.7. Three additional Panther men's runners finished in the top half of the field, including Justin Carroll (Berea, Ohio), Wes Pipher (Attica, Ohio) and Bobby Bogantz (Sunbury, Ohio).

Overall, the men's squad placed ninth with 312 points, and the women notched a 15th place finish with 439 points.

Ohio Dominican will compete next at the Spartan Invite at Michigan State University on Friday, September 15.
