WILMINGTON, Ohio – Ohio Dominican men's and women's cross country teams each finished in 10th place out of 38 competing teams in the #JennaStrong Fall Classic women's 5k and men's 8k races on Friday afternoon.
The women's team finished 10th out of 38 teams, with three runners finishing in the top 40. The men's squad also finished 10th out of 38 competing teams, with all five ODU runners finishing in the top 90 out of 395 total competitors.
Senior Nicole Brown (Columbus, Ohio) finished the women's 5k race in 18:33.4, the second-fastest 5k time in Ohio Dominican women's cross country history. This is also a new personal record for Brown and was good enough to put her in 13th place out of 366 participants.
Senior Shakita Kabicek (Brook Park, Ohio) finished 40th with a time of 19:22.6, which is the sixth-fastest 5k time in ODU women's XC history and is Kabicek's second-fastest time of her career.
Junior Jayln Devereaux (Carrol, Ohio) finished in 19:25.0, the seventh-fastest time for a women's runner in ODU XC history. 19:25.0 is also Devereaux's new personal record for the 5k.
In the men's 8k, senior Andrew Beier (Bellevue, Ohio) led the way with a 26:07.8 to take 33rd place out of 395 runners. This was the fourth-fastest time ever for a men's cross country runner in Ohio Dominican history.
Sophomore Wes Pipher (Attica, Ohio) set a new personal record with a time of 26:26.5 to finish 59th overall, and senior Patrick Ferguson (Austintown, Ohio) came in third for the Panthers, finishing with a 26:46.5 to take 78th overall.
The Panthers will hit the course again on Saturday, October 22 for the GLIAC Championships in Big Rapids, Michigan.
