COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican volleyball program has released its scheduled for the upcoming 2019 season.
The Panthers begin the new year with three consecutive weekends at road invitationals in September. ODU's opening matches will be played at the Ferris State (Mich.) Invitational, Sept. 5, 6 and 7, which will feature three opponents that advanced to the NCAA Division II National Tournament Second Round a season ago – Ferris State, New Haven (Conn.) and Gannon (Pa.).
The following two weekends will see the Panthers trek to Lindenwood (Mo.) and Southern Indiana for a total of eight matches. ODU is slated to go head-to-head against Great Midwest Athletic Conference rival, Kentucky Wesleyan, at the USI Invitational.
Ohio Dominican's home opener is set for Tuesday, Sept. 24, against Mt. Vernon Nazarene (Ohio). The opener kicks off four of six matches at home for ODU, which also features two home G-MAC contests against Lake Erie (Ohio) and Ursuline (Ohio) the first weekend of October. Conference play will begin at fellow Ohio schools, Walsh and Malone, on Sept. 27 and 28.
After hosting Wheeling Jesuit (W. Va.) on Oct. 8, the Black and Gold hit the road for nine consecutive matches. Part of the stretch away from Alumni Hall are outings at Hillsdale (Mich.) and Findlay (Ohio), who were the finalists in the 2018 G-MAC Tournament. The road trip also includes the annual Midwest Region Crossover in Indianapolis.
The final month of the regular season will have the Panthers home in five of six matches, beginning with Tiffin (Ohio) and Cedarville on Nov. 1 and 2. ODU closes the regular season with three matches inside Alumni Hall against Notre Dame (Ohio), Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) and Kentucky Wesleyan on Nov. 8, 15 and 16, respectively.
The conference tournament will be played Nov. 21 through Nov. 23. The winner of the tournament will receive the G-MAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Division II National Tournament.
