COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's volleyball team closes out its longest home stand of the season this weekend as the Panthers play host to G-MAC foes Malone at 7 p.m. Friday and Walsh at 5 p.m. Saturday in Alumni Hall.
The Panthers are 2-3 in the first five matches of the home stand and are coming off of a tough four-set loss to Urbana on Tuesday night. An even match statistically, ODU finished with 53 kills and hit .213, while the Blue Knights hit .210 and tallied 56 kills.
ODU's offense has picked up in the last three matches as the Panthers have hit .209 in that stretch, averaging 14.3 kills per set.
Junior Ciara Ralston (Findlay, Ohio) has 46 kills in that stretch with a .233 attack percentage. She has equaled her career high in kills with 17 against both Trevecca Nazarene and Urbana in each of the last two contests. Ralston also has 39 digs in the last three games.
Junior Kelly Nadler (Leipsic, Ohio) has 32 kills and is swinging .229 during that stretch, to go with 11 blocks. Freshman Alexis Young (Gahanna, Ohio) has a pair of double-doubles with 28 total kills and 42 total digs in the last three contests, and she leads the team with 14 total blocks.
Freshman Alyssa Hoyng (Celina, Ohio) paces the team with a .412 hitting percentage in that stretch, and classmate Ashton Barr (New Castle, Ind.) has 40 or more assists in each of the three matches and is averaging 10.6 helpers per set. She ranks sixth in the conference with 7.6 assists per set on the season.
Juniors Jordan Jaeckin (Olmsted Falls, Ohio) and Anna Ficker (Cincinnati, Ohio) are leading the team in digs during the last three games with 50 and 43, respectively. Ficker leads the team with 4.3 digs per set, which is seventh in the G-MAC.
The Panthers rank sixth out of 13 teams in the G-MAC with 1.7 blocks per set, and ODU's 15.2 digs per set are the seventh-best mark in the league.
