COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Dominican's volleyball team defeated Trevecca Nazarene by a final tally of 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference match on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Hall.
The Panthers recorded a season-high 65 kills, 96 digs, 12.5 blocks and eight service aces as a team en route to the win. ODU also recorded a season-best hitting percentage of .210 on the day.
Junior Ciara Ralston (Findlay, Ohio) recorded a team-high 17 kills along with 13 digs, marking her second-straight match with a double-double. Junior Anna Ficker (Cincinnati, Ohio) led the squad in digs with 23, her second-highest dig total for a match this season.
The match saw 29 ties and 12 lead changes, but ODU jumped out to a 1-0 lead after taking the first set 25-15, beginning the match on a 15-4 run.
The Panthers extended their lead to 2-0 with a 25-14 victory in the second set. ODU jumped out to an 11-3 lead in the set and after Trevecca took seven of the next 12 points to cut its deficit to 16-10, Ohio Dominican ended the set on a 9-4 run to take a 2-0 lead.
TNU earned a 25-19 third set victory but the Panthers found crucial points when it mattered most in the fourth set. With Trevecca leading 29-28 in the fourth frame, freshman Ashton Barr (New Castle, Indiana) notched a kill to tie the set 29-29. Ralston recorded a kill in the next point to give ODU a 30-29 lead, and Barr recorded the eighth service ace of the match to end the set, 31-29, and match, 3-1.
Ohio Dominican will host Urbana in a non-conference match on Tuesday before welcoming Malone and Walsh to Alumni Hall next weekend for Great Midwest matches.
