Volleyball Garners Sixth Straight AVCA Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- For a sixth consecutive year, Ohio Dominican's volleyball program received recognition from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for its performance in the classroom for achieving higher than a 3.30 GPA last year.

The Panthers were one of eight GLIAC programs to earn the AVCA Team Academic Award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year and honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year.

Nine Panthers earned GLIAC All-Academic awards last year, including seniors Bailey Barker (Muncie, Ind.), Emily Post (St. Henry, Ohio) and Tara Winner (Versailles, Ohio); juniors Caitlin Kusan (Westerville, Ohio), Briana Reder (Maineville, Ohio), Lauren Rindler (Rossburg, Ohio) and Kelsey Snyder (Macomb, Mich.); and sophomores Kelsey Fortney (Lorain, Ohio) and Darby Slavin (Columbus, Ohio).

Ohio Dominican begins its season on Friday, Sept. 5 with four matches at the Southern Indiana Tournament.
