COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's volleyball team hung with Northwood but fell 3-0 (21-25, 17-25, 25-27) in GLIAC play Saturday afternoon in Alumni Hall.
The Panthers hit .234 for the match, but Northwood finished with 55 kills while hitting .377.
Sophomore Lauren Kraemer (Kettering, Ohio) finished with 13 kills and just one error in 24 swings, while freshman Jackie Oestreich (Brighton, Mich.) tallied 10 kills and hit .444. Freshman Heidi Hess (Dayton, Ohio) added 16 assists and senior Bailey Barker (Muncie, Ind.) finished with 13 digs to lead ODU (6-6, 1-3 GLIAC).
ODU fought back from a 13-7 deficit in the first set to trail just 17-16. Northwood (6-6, 2-2 GLIAC) scored three straight points, but the Panthers came back again, making it 21-20 on a block by Kraemer and junior Lauren Rindler (Rossburg, Ohio). Northwood put the set away, though, by scoring four of the final five points.
After dropping the second set, the Panthers played well throughout the third, building a 16-11 advantage at one point. Northwood answered and went in front 21-20, but consecutive errors by the Timberwolves would give ODU set point at 24-23.
Northwood recovered, though, and came back to take the third 27-25.
Ohio Dominican hits the road for a 7 p.m. match at Tiffin on Tuesday.
