Performances in 60 Meter Dash, Hurdles Spotlight Day One at GLIAC Championships
FINDLAY, Ohio – Led by the freshmen duo of Aaron and Abe Johnson, Ohio Dominican's indoor track and field team wrapped up day one of competition at GLIAC Championships Friday at Findlay.
Aaron Johnson (Troy, Ohio) nearly qualified for the finals in the 60 meter hurdles as he finished tenth with a season-best time of 8.56, one-tenth of a second out of a top-eight spot.
Meanwhile, Abe Johnson (Cincinnati, Ohio) placed 13th in the 60 meter dash with his mark of 7.13, with senior Germaine McAlpine (Canton, Ohio) taking 19th in 7.22 and sophomore Darrell Harley (Columbus, Ohio) placing 20th in 7.24.
Freshman Tyler Fifer (Westerville, Ohio) finished 14th in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 21-00.00, and classmate Kenny Brown (Westerville, Ohio) had a pair of top-20 efforts as he took 15th in the 400 in a personal-best time of 50.94 and 20th in the 200 meter dash with a mark of 23.05, which was also a season-best.
On the women's side, senior Meghan Willeke (Lexington, Ohio) had the top performance as she placed 17th in the 5000 meter run with her time of 19:17.53.
The championships wrap up with day two action Saturday at Findlay.
