Zambrano Signs with ODU in Early Signing Period

The Ohio Dominican women's tennis program signed their first recruit for the 2012-13 season on Friday when Samanta Zambrano committed to the Panthers tennis family.

Zambrano, a native of Monterrey, Mexico, will enroll at ODU in the fall of 2012 following a very successful junior career. Samanta is currently ranked #11 nationally in Mexico Girls 18's, and #1 in her state (Nuevo Leon). In 2010, she finished the year advancing to finals at G1 national in San Luis and G1 national in Monterrey. Also in 2010, Zambrano placed 3rd in singles and doubles at year-end Mexican National Championship in Merida.

"We a happy to have another solid student athlete join the program," said head coach Ryan Beigle. "Samanta will be a strong addition to our line-up and will be a major contributor over the next four years."
