Jonathan Meade enters his fifth season as the ODU head women's soccer coach, having accumulated an overall mark of 43-19-12. After going on the nine game winning streak at the end of the 2011 season, his Panthers captured a GLIAC South Division Championship and advanced to the semi-finals of the conference tournament, where the second seeded Black and Gold fell to the third-seeded Ashland University in a shootout.
The 2009 Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Coach of the Year led the Panthers to within a game of back-to-back NAIA National Championship appearances in 2009. In his two seasons at the helm, Meade has coached eight all-conference selections, including two Second Team All-GLIAC selections a season ago, and 10 All-GLIAC Academic performers.
Prior to becoming the third coach in the 11-year history of ODU
women’s soccer, Meade was the head coach at former American
Mideast Conference (AMC) rival Mount Vernon Nazarene University for
nine seasons, where he put together an overall record of
134-61-7.
In his first season at the helm, the Lady Cougars went 11-8-0,
finishing fifth in the AMC with a 7-4-0 conference mark and
qualifying for the National Christian College Athletic Association
East Region playoffs. During his tenure, MVNU won four AMC South
Division titles (2003-04, 2006-07) as well as the program's first
two NCCAA National Championships in 2003 and 2006.
A 1995 graduate of MVNU, Meade was a four-year letterwinner on the men's soccer team from 1990-1993. During his playing career, he played in a school record 81 matches for the Cougars. He was named to the Mid-Ohio Conference Second Team in 1990 and was an MOC Honorable Mention selection in 1993 serving as team captain.
A native of Naples, New York, Meade earned his national diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association in the summer of 2000 and completed his Master's of Science in Sports Coaching from the United States Sports Academy in 2005.
Meade and his wife, DeAnn, currently reside in Mount Vernon with their two children Jadie and Gabbie.
