COLUMBUS, Ohio – Former Ohio Dominican women's soccer student-athlete Megan Wharton has been selected to the United States National Beach Soccer team.
Wharton, who graduated from Ohio Dominican in 2013, is one of 10 players that will compete for the U.S. in the CONCACAF qualifying tournament in El Salvador Friday, Aug. 2, through Tuesday, Aug. 6. The winner of the tournament will advance to the ANOC World Beach Games on Oct. 12-16 in Qatar.
During her time at ODU, Wharton helped lead a defensive third that posted 34 clean sheets from 2009-13. Over the span, the Panthers went 43-19-12 overall, winning double-digit matches each season. Wharton appeared in 69 matches, collecting two all-conference awards, as well as a third team All-Midwest honor in 2011.Offensively, she added one goal and two assists during her four-year career.
