Gordon's Overtime Game-Winner Seals Win at Ursuline

PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – Junior Becca Gordon's (Johnstown, Ohio) goal in the 98th minute sealed a 3-2 win in overtime for the Ohio Dominican women's soccer team over Ursuline on Thursday in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference matchup in Pepper Pike.

Gordon's goal came from just outside the box as she receieved a pass from freshman Katlyn Jamiel (Wilmington, Ohio) to clinch her second game-winner in as many games.

This marks the fourth straight win for the Panthers as they advance to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the G-MAC while Ursuline drops to 3-3 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

The first half saw the freshman combination of Mari Silvestri (Solon, Ohio) and Hannah Knobloch (Hilliard, Ohio) finding the back of the net for the Panthers.

The Panther offense jumped on the Arrows early as they had a pair of shots at the Arrow goalkeeper denied before Silvestri found the back of the net as Samantha Buck (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) had her shot denied and Silvestri put away the rebound.

Ursuline answered to knot the game at 1-1 in the 32nd minute but just six seconds later, Knobloch found the back of the net for her second goal of the year to put the Panthers up 2-1 into halftime.

ODU outshot Ursuline 13-5 with the Panthers having seven on goal to the Arrows five in the first half along with having a 6-1 advantage on corner kicks.

The second half saw the Arrows knot the game up at 2-2 in the 69th minute in which the 90 minutes came to a close.

The Panthers outshot the Arrows 12-7 in the second half and their closest chance as they had a couple shots finish wide of the cage.

Senior goalkeeper Marissa Wierzbicki (Powell, Ohio) recorded seven saves as she faced nine shots on goal in all 90 minutes between the posts.
