COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Dominican women's soccer senior forward Alli Pavlik (Cortland, Ohio) scored by way of a header on a pass from junior Susan D'Isidoro (Twinsburg, Ohio) in the 29th minute to lift the Panthers past Findlay in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference match on Wednesday night at Panther Stadium.
The goal was the 21st of Pavlik's career and her second game winner of 2017. D'Isidoro co-led the Panthers in assists in 2016 and recorded her first dime of the season to help earn the game winning goal for the Panthers.
ODU (2-1-0, 1-0-0 G-MAC) held a decisive 19-6 edge in shots over Findlay, including a 9-1 advantage in shots on goal. Senior Lauren Bates (Hilliard, Ohio), sophomore Becca Gordon (Johnstown, Ohio) and D'Isidoro each recorded two shots on goal apiece for Ohio Dominican. The Panthers also accrued eight corner kicks compared to just three for the Oilers.
ODU's defense recorded its second-consecutive shutout. In the last 170 minutes of soccer for the Panthers, ODU has held its opponents to just two shots on goal. Junior goalkeeper Marissa Wierzbicki (Powell, Ohio) earned the decision for the Panthers, picking up her second win of the year.
With the win, Ohio Dominican earned its first Great Midwest victory and will travel north to Saginaw Valley on Friday and Northwood on Sunday for non-conference matches against former GLIAC opponents before resuming Great Midwest play with a home match against Ursuline on Thursday, September 14.
