PATASKALA, Ohio — Ohio Dominican's women's golf team finished first out of five competing squads at the Capital Purple and White Spring Invitational on Sunday at Cumberland Trail Golf Club with a two-round score of 641 (324-317), while senior Erin Smiddy (Liberty Township, Ohio) took medalist honors with a career-low tournament score of 147 (74-73).
Smiddy recorded career-low rounds of 74 and 73 en route to taking top honors for the second time this Spring after finishing as tournament medalist at the TaylorMade-adidas Intercollegiate with a 160 (81-79).
The Panthers also saw three other golfers record top 10 finishes, including freshman Emma Romine (Marysville, Ohio), who finished with a 159 (81-79) to take third place, marking the first top five finish of her Panther career. Sophomore Kaylin Dill (Sedalia, Ohio) picked up the first top 10 finish of her career, shooting a 167 (85-82) to end in ninth out of 36 competitors. Also recording the first top 10 finish of her collegiate career was freshman Abby Swensen (Milford, Ohio), who finished with a career-low, two-round score of 168 (84-84) to finish tied for 10th place.
Freshman Bailey Krueger (Canal Winchester, Ohio) finished in a tie for 12th to mark her second top 20 finish this year, shooting a 169 (85-84).
The Panthers will prepare for the GLIAC Championship at The Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, beginning on Friday, April 21 and concluding on Sunday, April 23.
