Women's Golf Takes 10th at Give 18 Fore Cancer Classic

PATASKALA, Ohio – With the weather much improved from the day before, the scores at the ODU "Give 18 Fore Cancer Classic" at Cumberland Trail GC went low on Sunday afternoon, including for Ohio Dominican's women's golf team who finished 10th overall at their two-day tournament in Pataskala.

The Panthers solidified their 10th position from day one with a second round team score of 342, finishing just two shots back of Lake Superior State (Mich.) in ninth with an event total of 687 (345-342). Grand Valley State (Mich.), ranked 10th in the most recent Golf World/NGCA Coaches' Poll, hung on to secure the team championship with a combined score of 619 (300-319), narrowly edging runner-up and No. 13 California (Pa.) by one stroke and third place Findlay by three. Ashland secured fourth with a 625 (315-310) and Ferris State (Mich.) rounded out the top five, posting a 634 (324-310).

Individually, ODU was led by junior Amanda Costanzo (Silver Lake, OH) in a tie for 40th with a weekend total of 168 after back-to-back rounds of 84. With a final tally of 172 (91-82), freshman Lauren Kyre (Pickerington, OH) finished in a tie for 50th, while classmate Danielle Misencik (Concord, OH) was two strokes back in a tie for 53rd. Seniors Alexandria Numbers (Sugarcreek, OH) and Sarah Vonderembse (Lima, OH) rounded out the scoring for the Panthers, shooting 176 (85-91) and 177 (88-89), respectively, for top-60 finishes.

ODU has a two-week hiatus before returning to the course on April 15-16 for the Tiffin Spring Invitational at the Mohawk Golf and Country Club in Tiffin.
