Panthers Claim Title at Rain Shortened Lake Erie Invite

MADISON, Ohio - Ohio Dominican's women's golf team was named the champions of the shortened Lake Erie College Qdoba Mexican Grill Fall Invitational over the weekend at Madison Country Club in Madison, Ohio after rain washed out Sunday's final round action.

The Panthers battled a steady rain and soft, soggy playing conditions to post a score of 354 in the first and eventual only round, finishing 16 strokes ahead of second place Tiffin. The team title is the first by ODU since it claimed the Ohio Cup in 2009 and is the fourth overall championship in the program's eight year history.

Freshman Kelsey Auditore (Dayton, OH) became just the third player in school history to take home individual medalist honors as she battled the elements to an eight-over par 82 (43-39), edging out classmate Danielle Misencik (Concord, OH) by three shots. Miscenik finished the par-74, 5,428 yard course with an 11-over par 85 (39-46).

Senior Kelsey Brock (Zanesville, OH) earned her first top-5 finish of the season with score of 87 (44-43), while classmate Sarah Vonderembse (Lima, OH) collected her second top-10 finish with an 89 (46-43). Sophomore Ashley Swartz (Lima, OH) notched an 11th place finish with rounds of 48, 45 for a 93.

ODU wraps up the 2011 fall season next Sunday, Oct. 9 as the Panthers take part in the two-day Bing Beall Fall Classic, hosted by Findlay at the Findlay Country Club.
