OWENSBORO, Ky. – Ohio Dominican's women's basketball team suffered an 89-49 setback to No. 2 seed Kentucky Wesleyan in the G-MAC Tournament Quarterfinals, seeing its season end with a 15-14 record.
Sophomore Angela Troyer (Sugarcreek, Ohio) led ODU with 19 points, hitting 8-of-12 shots from the field while grabbing seven rebounds. Senior Alexis Overly (Chillicothe, Ohio) added 11 points as well.
ODU had a strong start, particularly on the defensive end, as they limited KWC to just 6-of-18 shooting in the opening period, including 2-of-11 from behind the arc. Overly knocked down a trey, then came up with a steal and an old-fashioned three-point play to put ODU on top 15-9 with just under a minute to play in the period.
However, KWC would score six points in the final 10 seconds of the period to pull even, then built a 41-24 lead with two and a half minutes to play in the second quarter.
ODU closed to within 44-34 at the half on triples by Troyer and Overly, but Kentucky Wesleyan started the second half on a 10-0 run to pull away with the victory.
KWC knocked down 16 triples in the contest, while ODU shot just 32.2 percent from the field.
The Panthers won 15 games for the fourth straight season and also made their fourth consecutive postseason appearance.
