COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Following a two-week layoff, Ohio Dominican's women's basketball team returns to the hardwood to take on Miami in Oxford on Saturday.
These two teams matched up in an exhibition contest on Nov. 5, 2016, with the RedHawks pulling off a 64-61 victory after ODU held a 57-56 lead with just over three minutes left.
The Panthers will look to bounce back from a 63-56 setback against Alderson Broaddus on Dec. 15. ODU held a 56-37 lead with nine minutes to play but did not manage another basket the remainder of the contest.
Sophomore forward Olivia Fox (Newark, Ohio) registered her second career double-double, scoring 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting while pulling down 12 boards. Classmate Angela Troyer (Sugarcreek, Ohio) led the Panthers with 14 points and grabbed six rebounds, all offensive. Junior Alexa Fisher (Powell, Ohio) finished with 12 points and four steals.
After making four triples at Davis & Elkins on Dec. 13, freshman Kennedy Schlabach (Millersburg, Ohio) buried three more against the Battlers, and now ranks fifth in the conference with 25 made treys. She sits 23rd nationally in three-point percentage (46.3 percent) and has hit at least three triples in five games.
Over the last five games, ODU's defense has limited foes to 38.7 percent shooting (120-of-310). Opponents are also just 28-of-96 (29.2 percent) from behind the arc in that stretch.
ODU has also improved on the glass as the season has progressed. After being outrebounded in each of the first three games, the Panthers have won or been even in rebounding margin in six of the past eight contests. The Panthers are averaging 40.5 rebounds per game over the last six contests.
