COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's women's basketball team couldn't sustain a strong start as the Panthers fell 72-64 to visiting Lake Erie on Saturday in G-MAC play.
ODU jumped to an 11-2 lead in the first five minutes of the game and led 17-12 after one, but the Storm outscored the Panthers 24-11 in the second quarter and ODU never regained the advantage.
Sophomore guard Angela Troyer (Sugarcreek, Ohio) poured in 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting, but ODU shot just 37.9 percent from the field (25-of-66) and 19 percent from behind the arc (4-of-21) in the setback.
Junior guard Alexa Fisher (Powell, Ohio) added 10 points and seven assists and ODU received eight points and five rebounds from sophomore Olivia Fox (Newark, Ohio). Freshman Kennedy Schlabach (Millersburg, Ohio) added eight points, sophomore Taylor Harazin (Aurora, Ill.) finished with seven points and seven boards, and freshman Alli Kern (Waterford, Ohio) added six points with seven rebounds.
Junior guard Hannah Clark (Glenmont, Ohio) pulled down eight rebounds as well.
ODU trailed 55-40 early in the fourth quarter but made a push, cutting it to 58-53 with 3:39 left on Harazin's layup.
Lake Erie scored the next two buckets, though, and ODU went over two minutes before scoring again as the Storm pulled away with the victory.
Ohio Dominican (5-4, 2-2 G-MAC) hits the road to take on Davis & Elkins at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
