INDIANAPOLIS – A pair of stellar performances on the road garnered junior Alexa Fisher (Powell, Ohio) the G-MAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week award.
In ODU's 81-74 win at Northwood last Tuesday night, Fisher put up 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting, hitting three triples, and pulled down a career-best nine rebounds. She also handed out three assists and logged all 40 minutes for the Panthers.
Less than 24 hours later, with ODU trailing Saginaw Valley 70-69 Wednesday afternoon and time ticking down, Fisher hit the go-ahead three-pointer with just three seconds to play, lifting the Panthers to a 72-70 victory. She finished that game with 25 points, eight boards, and six assists while playing 38 more minutes.
This is the first such honor for the guard, who ranks third in the conference with 17.0 points per game and is tops in the league with 15 made triples. She's poured in at least 17 points in four of ODU's five games and has hit at least three triples in those four games.
In her two seasons with the Panthers, Fisher is averaging 13.7 points per contest.
Ohio Dominican (3-2) returns to action and will start G-MAC play at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Walsh.
