COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican women's basketball coach Lynsey Warren announced the hiring of veteran assistant coach Cindy Martin to her staff.
A former Division I student-athlete and coach, Martin is also the owner and head coach of the Step Up Basketball Academy. She has Division II head coaching experience as well, being named the WBCA East Region Coach of the Year after leading Indiana (Pa.) to a 27-5 record in 2007-08. In three seasons at IUP, she finished with a 70-23 record (.753 winning percentage) and made a pair of NCAA Tournaments.
Prior to IUP, Martin spent four years (2001-05) as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at West Virginia, helping the Mountaineers break a 13-year NCAA Tournament drought in the 2003-04 season and also helping guide WVU to the 2005 WNIT championship game.
Martin also has coaching experience in the high school and junior college ranks. During her playing career, she spent two seasons at Flagler (Fla.) College, earning all-conference and all-region accolades, before transferring to Florida. She was a member of the Gators' program when they reached the Sweet 16 in 2008.
Ohio Dominican finished the 2017-18 season with an 18-11 record, marking the third straight year the Panthers have won at least 18 games. ODU has been regionally ranked in all three seasons as well.
