Short-Handed Women's Basketball Team Bows Out In G-MAC Quarterfinal, 100-87

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's women's basketball team played a spirited first quarter, but Findlay eventually pulled away for a 100-87 victory Thursday afternoon in the Callan Athletic Center in the quarterfinal round of the G-MAC Tournament.

The Panthers entered the tournament as the No. 6 seed and ended its season with an 18-11 record, playing its final six games with just seven healthy players available in uniform.

This was the 13th time this season ODU scored at least 80 points in a game and 25th time cracking 70 points as the Panthers led the G-MAC in scoring during the regular season.

Junior Alexis Overly (Chillicothe, Ohio) led the Panthers with 21 points, going 6-of-10 from the field and 8-of-9 from the free throw line, while also pulling down a career-high nine boards with three steals.

Senior Devin Conley (Danville, Ky.) added an ODU-best 20 points and senior Darian Rose (Fort Loramie, Ohio) added 19 points with seven assists and three steals. Sophomore Brittleigh Macaulay (Big Prairie, Ohio) put in 15 points and six rebounds and freshman Olivia Fox (Newark, Ohio) came off the bench to contribute eight points and five rebounds.

ODU jumped to a quick start, hitting 8-of-16 from the field in the opening 10 minutes. Trailing 15-12, the Panthers scored the next nine points as Conley made a layup and sophomore Alexa Fisher (Powell, Ohio) buried a three to start the run. Macaulay then finished inside for a layup and Overly knocked down a deep jumper to make it 21-15 with less than a minute to play in the quarter.

Findlay countered with a 9-0 run, though, going in front 24-21 early in the second period. A layup by Rose kept the Panthers close at 31-30 with 6:08, but the Oilers went on a 16-5 run to stretch its lead out to double figures and eventually go into the locker room with a 51-40 cushion.

The Panthers stayed within 10 at 68-58 on a triple by Rose with just over three minutes to play in the third quarter, but Findlay outscored ODU 11-4 to close the quarter and take control of the game.

This is the third straight season the Panthers have won at least 18 games and the third straight season ODU has appeared in the NCAA Midwest Regional Rankings.
