COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's women's basketball team hits the road Saturday to take on Cedarville in a rematch between two of the top four teams in the conference.
The Panthers and Yellow Jackets matched up in Alumni Hall on Jan. 6, with Cedarville escaping with a 72-70 win on two free throws with less than eight seconds to play.
Entering Thursday night's contests, Cedarville and Ursuline are tied for first in the league with 13-3 conference records, Findlay sits third with a 13-4 league record, and ODU is 12-4 and in fourth place.
Powered by the highest scoring offense in the league, ODU (16-6 overall) has won five straight games and has scored 77 or more points in the last seven contests. The Panthers have won their last four games by double figures and shot 47.5 percent or better in four of the five games in this win streak.
Overall, the Panthers are averaging 79.5 points per game, and rank third in the G-MAC with a 45.5 field goal percentage. ODU is also second in the league with 16.5 assists per game and second with 9.7 steals per game.
Senior Sarah Futscher (Wilder, Ky.) picked up her second G-MAC Player of the Week award on Monday after averaging a double-double in ODU's three wins last week. She leads the conference and ranks fifth nationally in field goal percentage, shooting 62.1 percent.
Sophomore Alexa Fisher (Powell, Ohio) has scored in double figures in four straight games and six of the last seven, averaging 14.9 points in those seven games on 46.2 percent shooting.
Senior Darian Rose (Fort Loramie, Ohio) has also scored in double figures in six of the last seven contests and is averaging 14.8 points per game in her last 11 outings.
