INDIANAPOLIS – For the second time this season, Ohio Dominican senior Sarah Futscher (Wilder, Ky.) has been named the G-MAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
The forward helped the Panthers to three double-digit wins – two of them on the road – as ODU has moved just one game out of first place in the league. She averaged 13.3 points per game on 57.1 percent shooting and also pulled down 11 rebounds in all three contests.
Futscher started the week with a huge performance in ODU's 77-65 win over Walsh last Tuesday, going 10-of-15 from the floor for 23 points along with her 11 boards. She followed that with a 10 point, 11 rebound effort in ODU's 83-70 win at Trevecca on Thursday night, then had seven points and 11 more rebounds in the Panthers' 86-75 win at Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday.
She continues to lead the G-MAC in field goal percentage (62.1 percent), ranks eighth in rebounding (7.1 rpg), 10th in blocked shots (0.9 bpg) and 15th in scoring (13.1 ppg). Her field goal percentage continues to rank fifth in the country.
Futscher also earned the award on Dec. 4 after putting up 18 points with nine rebounds in ODU's 93-75 win over No. 4 Cal.
Winners of five straight, ODU is 16-6 overall and 12-4 in the G-MAC. The Panthers hit the road for a 5:30 p.m. contest at Cedarville on Saturday.
